ICE CAR STOP SAFETY GUIDE

⚡ ADRENALINE WARNING ⚡

A stop triggers an intense adrenaline rush. PLAN NOW. This physical response interferes with decision-making. Commit to the steps below to ensure your safety and protect your legal rights.

THE INITIAL SETUP: DE-ESCALATE
HANDS AT 10 & 2:
Place both hands on the wheel immediately. Provide a clear "visual of safety" as agents approach.
ENGINE OFF:
Shut the engine off. This signals that you do not intend to flee or move the vehicle.
KEYS & ID ON DASH :
Place keys clearly on top of the dashboard with ID. This prevents the perception of reaching for gears or containers.
DEADLY WEAPON:
Remember that your vehicle can be construed as a deadly weapon and threat.
THE ENCOUNTER

  • OBSERVE Agency acronyms (ICE, FBI, DHS), patches, names, and badge numbers. Note the car color/type.
  • RECORD the interaction if safe. Use your 1st Amendment right.
NO CONSENT
  • PARTIAL WINDOW: Open only enough to speak. If ordered to unroll it, state you do not consent, then comply.
  • SEARCH REFUSAL: Do not agree to a search of your car or person without a judicial warrant.
  • DIGITAL PRIVACY: Disable biometric (Face/Finger) unlock before a stop. They need a warrant for your phone.

"I DO NOT CONSENT TO THIS SEARCH." "AM I FREE TO GO?" / "AM I UNDER ARREST?" "I WISH TO REMAIN SILENT AND SPEAK TO A LAWYER."
